Jagiellonian University is the oldest university in Poland, established in 1364. University continues its ancient heritage of service for science and education through carrying out scientific research, constant quest for the truth and promoting it with sense of moral responsibility for the Nation and the Republic of Poland. JU employs more than 6,000 staff members and has 3,600 academic teachers. Within the university the JU Teachers Training Centre has been developed to provide generic courses in the areas of pedagogy, psychology, philosophy, while the faculties within the university are responsible for individual subject methodology and organization of teaching practice. JU has a long tradition of chemistry, biology and physics teacher training as well as in international projects.
Jagiellonian University Museum
The Jagiellonian University Collegium Maius museum is an integral part of the university and houses a rich collection of scientific instruments – astrolabes, globes, sun-dials, telescopes, vacuum pumps, microscopes – many of which are unique on a world scale.
